The climate crisis is the crucial human rights challenge of this era and is already having a devastating impact on the well-being of youths, who are not experiencing the effects of climate change and related environmental degradation in the same way as adults are. The proportion of youths in the total population is above average in South Asia. They are particularly affected by the impacts of climate change, especially through food and water insecurity and a polluted environment.

At the same time, they are the future decision-makers and key players when it comes to climate protection measures. However, youths in India face various obstacles that prevent them from engaging in climate action: this includes lack of access, knowledge, capacity, and resources. They are also excluded from policy-making processes. Youths need to be recognized and listened to as agents of change at the local, national, and regional levels so that they can offer solutions to secure their own rights and collectively promote sustainable development for themselves, their communities, and societies across South Asia.

Keeping mind above issues Paryavaran Mitra  is implementing programs on climate education and actions with youth and children, Environment education  school children and teachers, publications of educational books/magazines.

We are looking for state coordinators for the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. 

We welcome applications form interested candidates having following qualifications:

• University degree or comparable degree in the field of community development, environmental / agricultural or social sciences.
• More than 5 years of experience in youth mobilization, facilitation and empowerment and knowledge of sustainable development goals, climate rights & justice and environmental rights & protection.
• Proficiency in local language and basic level communication skills in English language. Understanding of Hindi language would be an added advantage.
• Willing to take up frequent travel to other districts for organizing youth meetings and travel to other States to facilitate youth members to participate in National level meetings.
