Paryavaran Mitra is delighted to announce its Partnership role in an UK-India Collaborative Research Project.
The project titled “Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement of Vulnerable Poor Communities: Criticalities and Scrutiny of Law in Gujarat, India” is funded by a highly prestigious British Academy Grant, 2020.
The collaborative research is led by Northumbria University, UK (represented by its Principal Investigator Professor Gitanjali N Gill) and Parvayaran Mitra (represented by Mr Mahesh Pandya and Ms Falguni Joshi). The research programme is scheduled for 18 months.
The empirical research investigates the reach, effectiveness and impact of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) provisions in the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 (LARR Act) read alongside LARR (Gujarat- Amendment) Act 2016.
The outcomes of the intensive field-work will be disseminated through publications, conferences, and public awareness and capacity building workshops.
